ME

John Barker, Silverplume, Co.

My name is John and I live in Silverplume. I was born in Houston, Tx. in December of 1983, seems like it has been much longer than that though. When I was born, Colorado was the talk of the maternity ward. After being heavily influenced by other new borns, I Decided to talk my parents into moving to Colorado, which they did when I was 3 years old. Since then I have lived in ( in order ) Aurora, Georgetown, evergreen, Denver, Edgewater, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, and now I am back home in the mountains. I work for Summit County Government at a wastewater treatment facility located just outside of Keystone. Besides driving my truck and putting work into it, not working on it, I enjoy listening to punk, rock, and alternative music, and doing just about anything outdoors.

MY TRUCK

1979 F-250 Custom 4x4

My love affair with my truck started on my 18th birthday. After a case of Budweiser, and a bottle of Jager between me and my cousin, he asked me if I wanted the truck. I talked about it the next morning, after things cleared up, and I got the truck from him for free. I didn't drive my truck much at first because I had a company vehicle, and I was always working. After re-wiring most of the engine compartment, and making it look like she was never on fire, I started driving it more, and more. Since I have moved back to the mountains, I have modified my truck several times, these Mods include:

A cheap bed liner to cover up the rust until I learn to work with metal, and can fix it all.

New 16" wheels to replace the stock 16.5"s.

Painted front bumper and grille insert.

Stripping out the interior of the truck, rattlecanning it all black, installing a new stereo, speakers, cheap amplifier, carpeting the headliner a dark gray, building and installing a center console with an autometer voltage gauge, oil pressure gauge, temp gauge and a Moroso toggle switch plate for my accessories.

Fixing and running new line for my auxiliary fuel system, including a new Carter Fuel Pump ( stock tank plus [2] 15 gallon saddle tanks).

And best of all.....my engine. I have a 400 bored .060 over, milled heads, mild cam, stainless valves, Edelbrock Performer 400 intake manifold, Edelbrock 1407 carb. (650 cfm I believe) and an accel coil. This engine is freshly rebuilt as of 07-20-04.The timing of the motor was also fixed, as it was retarded 4 degrees from the factory, and some of my oil passages have been reduced to increase oil pressure (70 on cold start, 55 warm).

My wishes for my truck aren't so much things I want to buy for my truck as they are things  want to learn that I can do to my truck. Body work, Painting, Mechanical work, etc. But , of course, there are things I will have to buy, so here's a few:

A perfect body, I want my truck to have a perfect body, and im continually looking for one to be next to me in my truck...lol

A new windshield..hahaha!

Bucket seats, new carpeting, a new dash pad, and new door panels to finish off my interior.

New tires, im thinking just 33"s.

And...New front and rear bumpers.

Just as I have modified my truck, my truck continues to modify me too. Always learning something new with her...and it is all for the better.

There is a lot more to me than what you just read, if you would like to know more about me, what i Have been thru, what I Have put myself thru, how I have escaped an old way of life, the things i have seen, or just about anything else,  you can E-Mail me at Glass13War@Yahoo.Com
